Thomas Kleinknecht (1968, COL)
Thomas Kleinknecht (1968, COL) writes, "Considering the recent dismaying aftermath of the Boston marathon my time (one year, only) as a special student at the nearby Harvard College almost 45 years ago seems to represent halcyon days in my life. I'm grateful for having had that inspiring experience in an academic world of learning which proved to be so different from the traditional German background where I come from."

Fred Summer (1968, COL)
Fred Summer (1968, COL) writes, "I cannot believe that it has been 45 years since we graduated and next year is my 50th high school reunion. I may not have written class notes very often but I thought it was about time. After graduation, I was drafted and spent a wonderful year in Viet Nam. Following that, I attended and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. Since that time I have been an attorney with Squire Sanders (US) LLP and a predecessor firm which merged with Squire Sanders in 1988. My practice has generally involved corporate finance and corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions. I was also an adjunct professor at Capital University Law School for around 10 years where I taught a business planning practicum and a securities regulation course. I have been married to Sandy for nearly 45 years (our anniversary date is December 20, 1968) whom I was dating while I was at Harvard and before then. We have three children Samantha (37), Josh (31) and Jeremy (30). Samantha and her husband, Eric, have two adorable children, Lilly (6) and Ari (3). While my life has not been extraordinary, it has been fulfilling. "

Stephen Michaels (1968, COL)
Stephen Michaels (1968, COL) writes, "More time has passed than I thought possible. Still, I feel young most of the time. Going to the gym (almost) every morning helps a lot… My fascination with the acting process grows ever deeper. I’m still teaching at the Strasberg Institute, NYU and the New School. I also have a private practice. A few months ago I was accepted as a member of the Playwrights and Directors Unit of the Actors Studio. I’ve learned so much observing sessions in the acting unit. They use the “etude method.” The work is alive and deep. My teaching work has jumped up a level… I’m re-writing a play I wrote years ago, but it’s resisting. I feel I have much more to say in this phase of my life, but can’t seem to say it… I’m still exploring psychoanalysis—it hangs on, forever. Psychoanalytic theory is right next to the acting process, so it’s all good… Two years ago my girl friend and I broke up, after ten years. I’m still looking for the next—and last, I hope—one. Dating women of different ages is eye-opening... I have many wonderful friends in NYC and elsewhere, and they keep me connected. My mother is pushing one hundred! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone, old friends and new, at our upcoming reunion! Be there, or…! " Click here for photo

Philip Chan (1968, COL)
Philip Chan (1968, M.D., ret. COL) writes, "In the past two years I have renewed my interest in music. I learned to play rhythmic bones from some instructional DVD's and am taking washboard lessons. In May I will be attending a five-day blues jam camp focusing on harmonica, vocals, and song writing. I have taught Yang and Sun T'ai Chi Ch'an since 2002. Since January, I have been studying T'ai Chi in greater detail with a 50 DVD program on Wu Short Form from Bruce Frantzis. A final milestone has been achieving intermediate competence in West Coast Swing with the help of a dance coach." April 25, 2013

Peter Salerno (1968, COL)
Peter Salerno (1968, COL) writes, "In 2009 I had the privilege of providing some modest editing assistance to a good friend of mine (Tom Moseley 1969, HLS 1972) on briefs for a case in the U.S. Supreme Court (Nijhawan v. Holder). Tom was kind enough to put my name on the briefs, and I got to sit at counsel table for the oral argument, which was a great thrill, and I didn’t have the stress of actually having to speak. Tom performed that function with extraordinary (but customary for him) skill and aplomb. The case did not have any political implications, as evidenced by the fact that we lost 9-0, but I was impressed by the seriousness and diligence of the Court."

She was born on September 20, 2008 in Worcester, MA, and weighed 6 lb., 6 oz.. Who would believer that instead of retiring I would be re-parenting at 63. My son, Matt, is 26.5 and thinks that Harvard has given me radical ideas about believing that I am still young. Tayla will help me keep that belief alive. Anyway, I can always have Tayla call me Grandad Dad!

Andrew Gilman (1968, COL)
Andrew Gilman (1968, COL) writes, "In January of 2008 I retired from the parish after roughly 35 years in it in various places. I am currently enjoying my time immensely, spending much of my energy on deferred maintenance on our house. I expect at some point in the not so distant future to work in some sort of parish connection on a less-than-full-time basis. My wife still teaches in the local elementary school, though retirement is definitely on her horizon. My older daughter, Hallie (Harvard College 94) is a lawyer in Portland, Maine, with two wonderful children. My younger daughter, Caroline (Bowdoin, 98) is the librarian for the Brooks School in North Andover."
